Gary Appel

Senior Advisor, Investcorp

Gary Appel joined Investcorp in 2013 as Vice Chairman of Private Equity North America. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor to Investcorp. Mr. Appel retired in 2012 as Vice Chairman of Castle Harlan, Inc. Prior to that he was Vice Chairman of Glencoe Capital, Ltd. In the late 1990’s he served as a Senior Managing Director of Bear Stearns. For the 17 years prior to that he was with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Inc. serving as a Managing Director and a founding partner of DLJ Merchant Banking. He was a member of DLJ Merchant Banking’s Board of Directors and its Investment Committee. Mr. Appel has served on the boards of numerous public and private corporations, as well as serving on the boards of several non-profit organizations.
Currently, he also serves as an Executive in Residence of the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and as a member of the Advisory Board of its Private Equity Program.

Gary earned his BA with honors from Vassar College and his MBA from Columbia University.
